As it turns out yes we can
We returned to a Lyndon Top with a heavy heart as our travel plans once again scuppered by Covid-19. Our trip to Ireland has been put on hold due to quarantine requirements making our tour almost impossible if not highly expensive. Ah well it will still be there when this virus has decided it’s had enough and clears off.
Parking up for a few days amongst the peace and tranquillity that is Lyndon Top has lifted our spirits and we have decided to head north again for another jaunt around Scotland. This tour that never was has started to actually take shape, more of our wanderings around the motherland next week.
While we are sitting around doing nothing we noticed that our water pump was starting to play up. The constant pulsing and lack of hot water was concerning. The system is less than two years old having replaced just about everything after touring Scandinavia back in 2018.
The water pump was removed, stripped, cleaned and replaced. The Fiamma A20 Accumulator was recharged and the hot water boiler/tank was given a through going over. Dad checked the pipes for leaks and loose connections. Nothing was found to be amiss and yet the pulsing water pump persisted.
We eventually discovered the source while sitting in a supermarket carpark after our weekly shop. The hot water tank overflow was well overflowing, or rather the release valve was stuck in the open position. No wonder we were using so much water in such a short space of time.
A quick empty of the locker and we managed to release the stuck valve and hey presto our pulsing pump was no longer.
At least we know that the pump is nice and clean and the accumulator has been recharged just need to replace the inline sieve filter and we will be once again happy. Might even treat Trundlebus to a new inline filter cartridge.
Regular maintenance should be just that, the simple things get overlooked but if you keep on top of all the little jobs then the big ones are not so daunting and should be easier to handle. I dread to think how much this latest episode would have cost us if we had scurried off to a dealers to have it fixed.
Stay safe out there, be kind to each other and wear a mask
