Lockdown Part II
Well Stage X has come to an end, no more touring for the remainder of the year and for the considerable future.
Our plans for the winter have come to an abrupt halt after the announcement over the weekend of another national lockdown. We had already decided that European travel was not an option, Dad needs to be shielded, but had hoped to visit with friends up at Lyndon Top for a silent bonfire party.
We left Cheltenham Saturday morning heading north towards Stoke to collect a new tabletop before heading home to collect our post and a few items that had been delivered since our last visit. It was then down to Oakham
Unfortunately, upon arrival we discovered that most of the fields were cordoned off and the remainder far too wet to be of any use to a Trundlebus and the small amount of hard standing was already occupied. As much as we love Lyndon Top I do think if they want to remain open over the winter period they will need to address the parking situation and install some proper hard standing.
After a brief discussion and with the government news conference being touted for some time in the evening we decided to head back to Cheltenham in a pre-emptive move. Stopping in Corby to stock up on essential foods we hit the road and headed south. It’s been a long time since I have driven any great distance in the dark and have to say I much prefer it. We arrived back in Cheltenham in the early evening and parked up for the night. Over the next few days, we will set the van up and establish our base for the winter. We had intended to purchase a small run around but with the impending lockdown that along with lots of other things is going to have to wait, at least we have managed to secure supermarket deliveries so won’t go short of food.
Stage X has drawn to a close, no idea when we will get to initiate the next one so for the time being we will close down the weekly blog but keep posting bits and pieces via social media.
