Life on the Road

Breakdown update

Breakdown update:

After last weeks events it just got worse. The “check engine” light on the dash turned out to be more serious than we thought.
We tried to clear the problem ourselves but without luck, even a check online proved fruitless.
So with a heavy heart we resigned ourselves that this was going to be something beyond our capabilities. After a sleepless night with visions of Evesham whirling around our heads we took the plunge and contacted a mobile mechanic to have the problem fixed. Only problem was none of the mechanics we contacted were helpful. Once we mentioned it was a motorhome they were either busy, didn’t work in our area or had staff on holiday.
We were now as you can imagine panicking and as a final resort phoned the garage that usually looks after Trundlebus. Turns out we should have contacted them in the first place. Our booking for a service and MOT was brought forward and a hotel was booked for a few days from Wednesday. All we have to do now is drive from Lyndon Top to Trowell avoiding hills and hoping that we would manage to limp there without breaking down again.
It transpires that the problem we have is a common one for this model of Ducato and that we can expect the Throttle Body Control Valve to fail again, think we might be tempted to carry a spare just in case. Though this might just be tempting fate.

So our planned trip up to Scotland is going to be a week late, but that’s not going to be a bad thing as I haven’t wasted the time and have started writing a book. Trundlebus Travels, life on the road; is already two chapters long and looking good even if we say so ourselves. We have tried to keep our tale real, warts and all as they say. There are ups and downs, struggles and moments of genuine delight and when it’s completed we hope you will enjoy reading it as much as we have creating it.
