Life on the Road

Rest and Relaxation

A week in the sun

Trundlebus arrived in Palamós a day early and we managed to bag a pitch for Christmas at EmpordArea, eight days of sunshine, rest and relaxation.

We were last here back in 2020 just as Covid struck the world along with mass panic and devastation.

The site hasn’t changed and the staff are friendly and able to converse in several languages to make guests feel comfortable. Our stay cost us all of €120 (£112) and that’s inclusive of hook up and services. There are toilets and showers on site and to make life even better there is a supermarket less than 400m away for all your daily, Spanish Barra tastes just the same as a baguette but lasts just that little bit longer. Palamós itself is a steady 10 minute walk with a street market on a Wednesday and a Thursday. The beach front is full of cafes, bars and restaurants, there are kilometres of golden sands and pleasant walks to while away the hours lapping up the steady sunshine, this is why we have been coming back here for numerous winter stays.

First day here and it was a trip into town for a local SIM. I had intended to purchase a Vodafone, apparently they provide the best coverage in Spain. Sadly the store didn’t open in the afternoon so I ventured into the Orange store next door. €30 later and I walked out with a 100G 4G SIM card, fully activated that would last for 28 days. All I needed to show was my passport, yes it’s that easy.

We will leave here in the morning (27th December) and take a week to trundle down to La Linea to watch the fireworks and start the new year before winding our way north ish and a ferry back to the UK.
