5 November 2019 – 17 March 2020
Stage IX Slider
As we were well ahead of schedule and the weather was so nice we decided to head west following the Canal Du Midi landing back at Montferrand for the night and another wander around the canal system.
Stopping for a couple of days in Tarbes so we can be tourists. Nice private Aire attached to ambulance station. Ring the number provided on the notice board to let the warden know you have arrived and they will turn up and unlock the hook up points for you.
After taking a trip through the Somport Tunnel we have landed in Jaca for the night. Services are still free and the busses still wake you up far to early
our stopover spot for the weekend while we plan our journey south towards the sunshine. The Aire is free and quieter down beyond the allotments and away from the school. Service is free but if you need water you will need tokens which are available from the nearby sports hall. Lots of space, can get busy at the weekends.
Stopping to visit the Troglodyte Caves. The caves of Arguedas emerged towards the end of the 19th century as places that could serve as homes for local people who could not afford to buy somewhere to live. In 1940 the number of cave-homes reached 52, but they were gradually abandoned in the 1960s due to the construction of social housing. Service area is just before the stopover place opposite the cemetery!
We headed for Huesca via the Bardenas Reales, if you are in the area then a visit and a drive through Spain’s Desert is a must, it is truly stunning.
Parking in Huesca is a 20 minute walk into the historic centre, services are available onsite but be prepared for a bit of shunting to get on station.
A stop over for the night services available, handy for Trams into town. University opposite and Sports Area behind parking area. Its noisy!!
After a day shopping in Lleida we decided to head east and the nice free aire in Cervera, just off the motorway, services available. Café and Tourist Information with Police Station opposite.
EmpordArea. We have decided to head to a site for a while and the festive period, we need laundry and other domestic duties sorting.
Casa de Fusta. Back to enjoy the big skies and landscape for a few days on our journey south.
