Life on the Road

Still repairing!

Further repairs
This week we have been mostly enjoying the sunshine. Thankfully the weather held out over the bank holiday weekend and it gave us a good opportunity to assess the damage and plan the best approach for completing the repairs to keep the damp out.
The offending seams were treated, reinforced, screwed down, glued and resealed. Hopefully and touch wood we have stopped the ingress but the next time it rains will tell.
Since the habitation electrics shut down we have been cautious and are listening for every little noise from the control boxes. So far it’s holding out and after having the system assessed by an electrician, huge thanks to Dick, the system hasn’t repeated the shut down.
Our intended wander around the Netherlands and Germany have been put on hold and the train ticket has been changed for a later date. Turns out the ticket is valid for a whole year and as long as you notify Eurotunnel they are more than happy to change crossing dates and times at no extra charge. Always worth remembering.
This weekend we are camping with friends at Foxfield Light Railway near Blyth Bridge. We haven’t been here for 3 or 4 years and it’s not changed a bit.
Sunday is the start of a new month and we have decided to head north into Scotland, no idea where yet but we have a few places in mind. Hopefully the weather will hold out and we can get a few days exploring some old haunts and new places. Yes even we haven’t been everywhere in Scotland.

So Stage VIII has been extended for a few more months and we are now scheduled to depart for our winter in the sun early December.
